Royal Wedding... "Royal Garden"

New Traditions. Lasting Legacy. Unmistakably Herend.

This year, the world has been captivated by the fairy tale romance of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Their wedding was watched by millions, each detail magnified and publicized, imitated and glorified- a display of glamour, tradition, and fantasy unparalled in this new millenium. To commemorate such a momentous occasion, Herend has created "Royal Garden," a new pattern designed expressly for the couple. As a modern interpretation of the company's famed "Queen Victoria" pattern, "Royal Garden" features all the traditional quality of Herend china while updating their classic motifs to a larger size and more contemporary color pallette. Like Kate and Will, this pattern forges a new, youthful take on tradition... and, like their marriage, is able to be shared with all.

Syracuse

Given her company's enduring reputation for craftsmanship and style, it is unsurprising that Robert Haviland & C. Parlon's designer Arielle de Brichambaut would turn to something "classic" for inspiration. In creating "Syracuse," de Brichambaut evokes the wonders of classical Greek and Roman civilization, perpetuating a legacy of timelessness while maintaining a thoroughly modern aesthetic.

Named after the Sicilian city of Syracuse (which was lauded by famed philosopher Cicero as the "most beautiful" of the ancient Greek colonies), this stunning pattern features all the richness and fantasy of a bygone era. Drawing upon both Greco-Roman culture and the spectacular setting of the Mediterranean, Syracuse is a triumphant marriage of color, form, and design. Haviland & Parlon's classic round Recamier shape provides the perfect canvas for the organic gold shapes of the design, whether it's the myriad of circles bordering each piece or the soft waves radiating from the center of the bread & butter plate.

And while gold details bring a sense of luxury and sophistication to your present-day dining, it also evokes the sumptuous allure of ancient Syracuse and the lifestyles of its island inhabitants. The color selections serve a similar purpose, drawing upon classical inspiration to create modern innovation and style. Shades of turquoise not only call to mind the lapping of Mediterranean waves, but also add a fresh, fashionable air to your contemporary table (refined taupe and vivid rose are other chic alternatives!). Ultimately, Syracuse is a gorgeous addition to John Dabbs Ltd's extensive collection of fine china- we couldn't be more thrilled about its arrival!
